To close up your home properly you need to plan ahead of moving day. Make certain that all the utilities you are using are terminated from the day after you close your home. This helps ensure that you don’t pay for them beyond that point.

 

Keep all financial and important papers with you, especially the insurance papers. Don’t pack your jewelry with the rest of your belongings, but carry them with you instead.

Once your home is clear of boxes and cartons check every room to ensure that you haven’t missed anything. Also check the attic and basement. Make sure all faucets are shut off and light switches turned off.
