Managing Moving Day

Moving to a new home is really a nightmare considering the tasks to be carried out. By careful planning and following some simple guidelines you can manage the moving event with unbelievable success. Here are those simple but yet very effective tips for painless moving.

Exchange Cell phone numbers - Exchanging numbers with the driver and the movers is very important, in case they get lost or you do!! It is also a direct way to keep in touch and keep track of your furniture and belongings.

Confine your pets -  Pets, especially dogs, tend to get in a frenzy on moving day, because of all the excitement. You will want to secure your pets away from the trucks and movers so they do not get in the way. Also if you have pets with special requirements see to them prior to moving day.

Refreshments - It is always a good idea to have drinks and snacks and water handy on moving day, for the family and movers.

Don’t trouble the neighbors - Consider both your old and new neihbors when moving. Take into consideration the time of your move and parking. You want to ensure that when you move you do not block or disrupt your neighbors and that you organize you move for a time that will not disturb the neighbours you are leaving and your new ones.

Documents to be signed -  Bill of lading, a government document and the inventory of the things moved are the 3 documents you would be signing. Read them carefully before signing.

Planning the route - Be sure you have the right address and directions and the truck is either following you or you follow the truck. Discuss prior to moving what is the best route to take with the driver, so you will be on the same track.
